Quarantining Disney Style- Games

By: Hannah aka @thatbabeintoyland

So we’re currently quarantined but if you think about it in the eyes of Disney, it’s really not all that bad. I mean Rapunzel, Elsa, and Beast were all quarantined too and it worked out for them! That being said I wanted to talk about a couple of fun Disney style games that may help you pass the time! Disney Games can be the ultimate way to get into the spirit without actually being at Disney. I’m going to go through some of my favorites!

Toontown Rewritten
Platform: PC
Cost: Free
Skill Level: Easy

Talk about a throwback! I actually played this game quite a bit when I was younger but Disney’s Toontown Online was shut down permanently in September of 2013 L However, over the next year a team of Toontown Online lovers developed a new platform for the beloved game called Toontown Rewritten which has all the nostalgia of the first game. Toontown Rewritten is a multiplayer online game built for kids, teens, and adults of all ages. Ultimately, you get to jump into a “tooniverse” and create your own Toon and join the never-ending battle against the “Cogs”, who want to turn Toontown into their latest business venture. This game is a blast and one of the best ways to continue being social while social distancing! Meet new friends or play with old ones through their chat feature which is HIGHLY controlled. I recommend this game! Who knows maybe we’ll run into each other!

Epic Mickey 1 and 2
Platform: Epic Mickey 1 (Wii ONLY)
Epic Mickey 2 (Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows, Wii U, PlayStation 3 models, PlayStation Vita)
Cost: $6.99+
Skill Level: Moderate

THIS GAME IS AWESOME! Play as Mickey Mouse as you venture through all the Disney lands! It can be a bit challenging but it is a lot of fun! Definitely takes several days to work your way through. You jump into yet another “Tooniverse” in this game but, instead Mickey Mouse (you) has been sucked into a Disneyland inspired model made by Yen Sid (aka The Sorcerer). It’s almost like an “upside down” Disneyland that was created for forgotten toons and their leader is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit! How cute?! Best thing is there are two parts to this adventure giving you days and maybe weeks of play! This is another game I really enjoy!

Toy Story Mania
Platform: PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, iOS, IBM PC compatible

Cost: $2.57
Skill Level: Easy (can increase difficulty)

As most of you may know. Toy Story Mania is one of my favorite rides! Are you missing your favorite rootin’ tootin’ shooting game? Have no fear! You can head straight to Andy’s Room where the toys have set up their own carnival games. Aim, toss, bop and shoot your way through multiple levels of midway action with Woody, Buzz and the gang all in eye-popping game! No fastpass+ or 120 minute wait required and you can still play 3D style, if you want, in 6 different shooting galleries. You can get the PC version immediately for as low as $2.57 but the Wii version as low as $20! This game is a lot of fun to play with the family or solo! Work on your skills for when WDW and DL open back up!

Disney Magic Kingdoms
Platform: iOS, Android, Windows Phone
Cost: Free (in-game purchases)
Skill Level: Easy

If you’re missing The Most Magical Place On Earth this game lets you build your own Magic Kingdom and introduce all your favorite characters. The goal is to revive the park after Maleficent has cast an evil spell! It is very cool getting to create your kingdom and build the charming attractions we all love such as “”it’s a small world,”” the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor and Space Mountain from Disney Parks from around the world! The only downside to this game is that some of the cutest and most fun characters are only available through purchases L This was extremely disappointing when I got to Tangled and wanted Maximus but nonetheless it is still fun!

Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King
Platform: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows
Cost: $22.49 (Varies based on platform- this price is for the Nintendo Switch game)

Skill Level: Moderate to Hard

Looking for a bit more nostalgia? Get all the classic Disney vibes with this dual game release! These two game classics have been brought back to life to modern consoles though I’ll admit, THE LION KING IS STILL HARD AS ****. I still have yet to ever beat this game. Even in its original version! This game scarred (no pun intended) me in the 90s and has scarred me as an adult. However, the game is still a blast. You begin as Simba, banished by his Uncle Scar and make your way to Pride Rock to take over as King. Aladdin is the better of the two, in my opinion. In this classic you play as Aladdin with your trusty side-kick Abu as you travel through Agrabah. You can visit the Cave of Wonders, defeat Jafar and rescue Jasmine (though she’s probably perfectly capable of doing it on her own), and don’t forget flying on your own magic carpet. These games will definitely help you get through any Disney withdrawals!

Disneyland Adventures
Platform: Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360
Cost: $4.99 used, $16.99 new (varies based on platform)
Skill Level: Easy

For the ultimate Disney Parks lover is Disneyland Adventures. For people of all ages who are missing their home away from home this game allows you to explore all the magical lands of the Park. It is so cute! You can even interact with characters, collect autographs, collect pins, find hidden Mickeys and purchase merch from the stores without the wait! Haha. It even has 18 different Disney attractions including some of the most lovable like Mad Tea Party, Matterhorn, and Peter Pan. There’s even a fireworks show! Best part- you can play with a friend! This is yet another great game that helps us to socialize while we’re social distancing!

Kingdom Hearts
Platform: PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance, mobile phone, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, Web browser, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Android, iOS
Skill Level: Moderate

Last but not least Kingdom Hearts! Now, I have not personally played this game but it is at the top of my to-do list! I recently downloaded it and am looking forward to playing! I have heard wonderful things about this game and its popularity and awards speaks for itself. The game is set in different Disney and Pixer worlds that include all your favorite characters including Monsters Inc., Toy Story, Tangled, Frozen, Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Hero 6, and many more. From what I can gather, it seems there is an evil character named Heartless that wants to take over and invade the universe. You join the main character, Sora, along with Goofy and Donald, to stop this evil force. It actually to me sounds like a souped-up version of Epic Mickey, which we all already know, I’m here for!

There are several other Disney games that can be found on all kinds of platforms. Is there one that you absolutely love that we didn’t mention? Drop us a comment so we can continue to share the magic and pass the time! Not a gamer? That’s okay! Stay TOONED and we’ll talk about other fun things to do while in quarantine!
